| MOTORMAN'S DREAM |

| "But surely you must know that I am always with you... it was you who knew me and loved me best!" |
|
Shortly over a year ago, I lost my beloved nine-year-old cat, Motorman, to oral cancer. We were true soulmates in every sense of the word. What made his loss even more devastating was that the decision to end his suffering (and hence, his life) fell upon my shoulders. The inspiration for this painting came to me in a dream so incredibly realistic that even though it occurred many months ago, I can still vividly recall every detail. It was as though I actually experienced it, and I believe it was Motorman's way of getting in touch with me to let me know that he was OK and that "hey, things are pretty cool over here!"
I awoke feeling peaceful and comforted, but I was afraid that the beautiful images of the dream would fade. I wanted to remember them! I immediately wrote down the details of our conversation. Having heard Motorman speak actual words seemed strange while awake, but during the dream, it seemed perfectly normal and acceptable. The next evening I began to paint the dream, and I worked in my garage until well past 2:00 AM. Everything flowed with an energy of its own as my dream became a reality. I instinctively chose the perfect colors and textures which captured the moonlight, the rough bark of the tree, the stars, and the pile of rocks where I sat. For the first time in my life, I completed an entire painting without making a single change. |
